Love, Marriage, or: Both

‘Synesthesia’ – a dโ€™Verse prompt

My lime for you beryls with deep pine
I coral to salmon your puce
Your yellows both amber and chrome me
Your bice leaves me verting for spruce

The teals of your blues, they cobalt me
I can't help but rose at your flush
There are kelly and coal in your sable
That leave me aplum and ablush

Please mauve me to perse at your ginger
Bister me to chestnut your green
My brick is now flaming vermilion
And my pearls glow bright aquamarine

If I can't pea with you-- I'll go apple
My azures for you burn sapphire
I'm sure ivory will soon saffron me...
For you've set my whole palette afire

The above poem is my take on dโ€™Verseโ€™s โ€˜Synesthesiaโ€™ prompt.

This d’Verse writing challenge is to incorporate music in our poem from the perspective of a synesthete, to write a song filled with colors.

  1. Every time you leave a comment I keep checking your blog… and re-reading this gorgeous poem. The way you have verbed the colours is so creative and I’ve learned some new colour words here… but most of all the romance and loving vibe of this is divine… and the image is perfect with it. A prismatic gem of a piece.

  2. To be honest, your English is very hard to understand. But I’m enjoying reading the comments. Best of luck sir.

  3. This is brilliant, David. You need a literature award for this .. itโ€™s priceless piece of creative writing bag the painting blew my mind.
I want to keep reading this , David.

Yes, I lost my papa a month ago. He died of. Stroke.

    1. I’m deeply sorry for your loss, Yassy.

In Jewish tradition, when somebody dies, we respond with a statement reaffirming our faith: ‘Blessed is the True Judge.’

      ‘Baruch Dayan Emet.’

          1. No way, David. Your original title makes one appreciate either, besides, one may lead to the other ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. Ahahaha please stop with the scary clown faces ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿค“

    1. You know what I love about these prompts, Cheryl? They really lead me to produce verses that I think would never have otherwise come to me. It’s a lot of fun ๐Ÿ™‚

      Thanks!
