Great quote – reblogged
Thanks. It resonates deeply with me personally, Gail.

So true, and death is but a moment. In fear of that one moment, many of us die so many deaths.
Reminded me of a quote, not along the same lines, but related somehow still.
Life is pleasant. Death is peaceful. It’s the transition that is troublesome – Isaac Asimov
I came across this particular quote randomly.
Those inner deaths during our lives – I think they really are the worst we can suffer. And those whom we’ve lost wouldn’t want us to suffer them.
Live while you live… It’s the moment that counts. This quote, “The greatest loss is what dies inside us while we live,” reminds us to keep the good alive. What it causes me to realize, though, is that not all that lives inside us is good… and when we recognize we’re harboring grudges or hatred or prejudices, it’s time to let those attitudes die. Live in love – and keep it alive! Die to all that kills love. β€
Jan, yes, I agree.
And – Sometimes we carry “dead” parts of ourselves along with us – unable to shed them.
These prevent us from being fully alive.

David
Ah, so true!!

A quote that resonated in many. I believe that a living death is when we stop thinking and just go through the motions of living…
yes. that is definitely one such death, Muri.
also, perhaps the death of hope.
So true! A very evocative and poignant quote. It resonates, deeply.
with me too. Thanks, Abi.
Love Norman Cousins… so true David! I can never hear his quote enough! ππ
Were you already familiar with this quote, Cindy? I only just found it myself π

I was… I’m a long time reader of these books passed down from my parents.

Deep and quite a sad quote, but I feel it can certainly be true

All best,

Experiencing the pain of death is a pain like no other. But finding yourself in the pain can sometimes be worth it. Iβve learned that this week.
Reminds me of Dylan–he not being busy being born is busy dying. Something to remember. (K)
A wonderful quote, David! We must find a way to hang on to our “inner child” in order never to lose curiosity, optimism, sense of wonder, and our ability to adapt and grow. β€ All the best!
