Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will. Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them, and these will continue till they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress.
– Frederick Douglass (1817-1895)
Shabbat & Pesach (Passover)
Dear friends, I am offline for two days until sunset on Sunday so I will be unable to respond to your comments until then. I’ll miss you 🙂
Happy Pesach!
Thanks, Yvonne ❤

It’s so painful.
One example for me in recent times is the violent bullies of the military in Myanmar. I saw one clip of brutality and it gave me sleepless nights. And the violence and tyranny is escalating.
I didn’t watch the news for two weeks after that. In fact my television was off. I can’t absorb that kind of news, I just can’t.
I so feel you on this, Abi. It’s heart-rending 💔
Yes
What does the middle ground between tyrant and slave look like?
So interesting, Jason. I suppose, in theory, it’s pure independence, right?
I have to think more about this.

Can any of us really be independent David? Even remote hermits ‘rely’ upon commerce for tools. What about freedom and responsibility; and if so, please explain with precision, clarity and brevity.
