Poets, or: Sages

My first Terzanelle

Beginnings bring inevitable ends
It's oft said the fourth dimension is time
Beginnings bring inevitable ends

Poets struggle to find reason in rhyme
Our endings birth beginnings for others
It's oft said the fourth dimension is time

Fulfillment is too often another's
Some would bleed themselves out onto pages
Our endings birth beginnings for others

Futile queries of ancients turned sages
Only spiritual rhythm matters
Some would bleed themselves out onto pages

Of bodies naught remains but mere tatters
Peace exists in only three dimensions
Only spiritual rhythm matters

Though some may cleave to other pretensions
Peace exists in only three dimensions
Beginnings bring inevitable ends
Beginnings bring inevitable ends

  1. Really enjoying reading the vast array of forms you are experimenting with. You have a gift for creating something special with them all. Have you tried a Nonet net? (Apologies if you have and I’ve missed it). I tried one out the other day and found it not as challenging as some of the other forms

    1. KT, I’d never heard of it either until yesterday ~ I was just searching for new forms and came across it. If you write one too, please share it with me!

  2. Excellent poem written from a poet’s point of view. There are so many forms and so little time! I am partial to the interlocking forms so this is one that I’ve not attempted in many many years. I just might need to dust it off!!

  3. David, you are so good at experimenting too.. I have never tried a Terzanelle, my forte at one time in my life, was the Villanelle, but this is wonderful.. I really enjoyed how you put this together..It would be wonderful to read out-loud:)
