I think there is is truth to this. Not only in that we have a core essence that go beyond what we do. But also in the less profound truth that Shabbat can be so painfully boring when it’s just you and your essence, not actually doing anything. (Maybe that is just me).
For sure! One must feel comfortable being with one’s self, without distractions… or… find a lot of non-electronic distractions!
