A rhyming quadrille
Luke Glueck was the Duke of the uke; he’d get drunk and twang like a kook. His drinking and juking drew rebuke, cuz every damn’d night he would puke and collapse on the floor, his brain nuked. It’s no wonder Luke always got rooked!
A d’Verse prompt
The above free verse poem is my take on d’Verse’s Quadrille challenge #131.
The quadrille is simply a poem of 44 words (excluding the title), and it can take any form. This week’s challenge was to use the word “juke” in a quadrille.
Ha… what a hoot… but I wouldn’t like to wake up like that.
Yeah, you need to know when to cut yourself off! Or… at least your friends need to!

Well done, I really like this part –
“His drinking and juking drew rebuke,
cuz every damn’d night he would puke”
Nicely done David, hope the family is all well and you are all having a great week. xoxoxo Joni
We’re doing great, Joni 💘
How are you guys doing?

I am glad to hear it David. Things are starting to seem more normal again here too. If you are fully vaccinated you can go without a mask. Some places still prefer masks are worn. We do which ever the sign says. We have no problems following the business owners preferences. We have a wise Dr. friend who I see as an old soul. He is gifted in so many ways. Makes beautiful furniture raises fungi and other vegetables and is always helping others. When this virus hit I asked him, “What do you think will end up being the main thing we will all remember?” He quickly explained that all of us will have someone that we love or know that will die. We had two dear friend that lost siblings and my husband who is younger than me by a decade lost his mother. His dad is doing better and so he is too. We are both well and celebrated our 25th wedding Anniversary on July 13th.
Hope you and your sweet family is blessed and happy. A child is such a wonderful gift from God.
Love ❤️ Joni
I had no idea, Joni! I’m deeply sorry for your losses.
But I’m glad that you sound positive on the whole!

That photo is just perfect. (K)
I think so too 😁
Thanks 💕
Well played, David. As I was reading, I sensed a limerick within. A poem within a poem. Very creative.
Bill, you seriously humbled me with your astuteness. I’m floored.

You rocked it with the rhyme. Better not tell Miss Piggy about his shenanigans.

Really, don’t worry about it, David! It’s not a big deal.
How many times do you get called Ben? 😀
Hope your daughter had a good day at school.
Haha! Luke does look a bit vulnerable. Totally out of it. 🙂
