Duke of the uke, or: Patsy

A rhyming quadrille

Luke Glueck was the Duke of the uke;
he’d get drunk and twang like a kook.
His drinking and juking drew rebuke,
cuz every damn’d night he would puke
and collapse on the floor, his brain nuked.
It’s no wonder Luke always got rooked!

A d’Verse prompt

The above free verse poem is my take on d’Verse’s Quadrille challenge #131.

The quadrille is simply a poem of 44 words (excluding the title), and it can take any form. This week’s challenge was to use the word “juke” in a quadrille.

  1. Hahah – Kermit the frog – I knew he had his secrets – ha – he should be careful not to puke all across his nice, soft fur – smiles – what a fun write

                1. well, one outta two ain’t bad! (I do apologize though and won’t do it again! I was distracted because I on the way to pick up my daughter from preschool)

                  1. Really, don’t worry about it, David! It’s not a big deal.
                    How many times do you get called Ben? 😀
                    Hope your daughter had a good day at school.

  2. Hehe! That is always a danger of overindulgence – the puking…. My husband hasn’t been drunk or hungover since the day before Passover the first year of our marriage. And he will never again make such an egregious error in judgement!

  3. Ha, some excellent rhyming there! I love kermit lying among the small botles. LOL. I now see him in an entirely new light. Smiles.
