Numb, or: Senseless

My 2nd musette

Elbows
on the counter
soiled clothes

Leaning
into wine for
meaning

She'd died
bearing a child
his bride

  1. This is such an intriguing piece. A sad ending, but sadly, that is life sometimes. You tell an interesting story with just a few lines. I could probably make a mess of this structure! πŸ˜†

    1. yeah I was wondering if I could get a bit of a story across with only 24 syllables πŸ™‚ – it seemed like a fun challenge for myself!

  2. beautiful piece David. Very sad indeed, the cycle of life is sometimes so painful. Hope you and your family are having a wonderful weekend together. Love to your family, Joni

      1. You are most welcome – Ben when I went into my comment section this morning I had a bunch of them and I saw your name a few times. When I went into answer them our internet went down for about three minutes until we rebooted the WiFi router. When that was done all your sweet comments were gone. So I tried to find them but only found two. So if I miss something forgive me. I never want to ignore a comment. Have a blessed day David, love to both you and your sweet family. xoxoxo Joni

  3. Ack! So sad on all fronts! Drinking to forget only makes the person forget the good parts and reinforces the bad ones!! The sense of hopelessness is palpable!!
