While putting her to bed \ I often fall asleep from exhaustion; I'd rather remain awake \ to soak in night's boundlessness, but am bound by mortality \ and men's daily rhythms.
I often think that the night is more alive and more richly colored than the day.–Vincent van Gogh (1853 – 1890)
I had intended to post this last night, but once again fell asleep while putting my daughter to bed.

Very sweet, David. I find the night such a special, quiet time to indulge my senses. But am so exhausted from the day’s work that I set aside this craving. 🙂

Yeah… I often have to go to bed or I simply cannot function the next day (middle age- yuck!), but I wish it were not so!
Haha. I know the feeling.
I’ve learned I need to listen when my body wants sleep. (K)
yeah – I pretty much have to or I’m not functional.

I see you are not immune to parental exhaustion! I can’t tell you how many times I had to go wake up my husband who had fallen asleep while reading a bedtime story to the boys! Of course Moby Dick would put anyone to sleep…
yawn / zzzzz / where was I?
“The process of writing has something infinite about it. Even though it is interrupted each night, it is one single notation.” –Elias Canetti
yawn / zzzzz indeed!
Such a wonderful piece. I love nights the best too, I’m much more awake and energized when I feed off people’s blood. 🧛
There’s a boundlessness to it indeed, but I succumb too to the exhaustion at some point wondering how much time I’ve wasted lol. I really enjoyed reading this, David, it’s a great piece. I also love the Van Gogh quote.
Wonderful! 💕 Love the Van Gogh quote!!!
🥰 Eleanor, me too 🥰
Night is more alive! I wondered about it. The darkness is itself a beauty
Yep, and it’s when I get my best thinking done, Madhavi!
