A Sevenling (All my life)
All my life, I’ve resisted others’
standards; I’ve avoided taking a
stand; I’ve never figured out how do both.
Notwithstanding my accursed inability to
understand
my inner workings, I am; I love; I write.
I cannot stand life's endless standby, but so it goes.
d’Verse: a Quadrille
The above sevenling is my take on d’Verse’s Quadrille challenge #133.
The quadrille is simply a poem of 44 words (excluding the title), and it can take any form. This week’s challenge was to use the word “stand” in a quadrille.
An understanding of the inner workings will definitely see one through. It’s perpetual learning. 🙂
I don’t seem to be learning fast enough, and I’ll be 42 this year…
David, 42 is actually 22 in today’s world. You’ve got a long way to go. 🙂
it often doesn’t feel that way, but thank you ❤
I like your balanced perspective here David!
😘🤗 Ingrid 🤗😘
I’d say balance is an ideal of mine.
Relatable, David! You’ve painted quite a picture in very few words. ❤ Never join a herd!
💛 Cheryl 💛
Enjoyed all the variations you managed into 44 words, but this….”I am; I love; I write.”….could stand alone. 🙂

I used to have much more of a partisan bent. Now I think many people, myself included, would do well to listen to their to their opponents (listen does not mean agree, but with intent for genuine understanding), reflect, and work together on workable solutions.
That’s just crazy talk.
“I am, I love, I write” …. Now there’s something to stand for!
Yep, I’ve got that at least 🙂
Thanks, Bev ❤

A big shout-out to you … this Quadrille of yours is out(standing) …. Cheers.
❤ thanks so much, Helen ❤

P.S. happy birthday again!
Bravo! every permutation of stand here David with a nice touch of the existential:-
” I am; I love; I write.”
☺️ thanks, Laura ☺️
If only “I am; I love; I write” were enough!
But I can write, I love this. ❤️
In the real world, it’s not enough 😦
I know. 😔
A constant struggle, David. I suppose it depends on the context. I suspect if there was a threat to your daughter, you’d take a stand.
I liked the wordplay. 😀
of course that’s true, Merril… I was thinking more about political, religious, philosophical matters 🙂 … although, of course, these do spill over into existential matters too…
❤

😀
Being who we are isn’t always easy … thoughtful response, so well elucidated.
clear – that’s about what I was going for, Marion 🙂
