Standards notwithstanding, or: Drivel

A Sevenling (All my life)

All my life, I’ve resisted others’
standards; I’ve avoided taking a
stand; I’ve never figured out how do both.

Notwithstanding my accursed inability to
understand
my inner workings, I am; I love; I write.

I cannot stand life's endless standby, but so it goes.

d’Verse: a Quadrille

The above sevenling is my take on d’Verse’s Quadrille challenge #133.

The quadrille is simply a poem of 44 words (excluding the title), and it can take any form. This week’s challenge was to use the word “stand” in a quadrille.

  1. Enjoyed all the variations you managed into 44 words, but this….”I am; I love; I write.”….could stand alone. 🙂

  2. I used to have much more of a partisan bent. Now I think many people, myself included, would do well to listen to their to their opponents (listen does not mean agree, but with intent for genuine understanding), reflect, and work together on workable solutions.

  3. A constant struggle, David. I suppose it depends on the context. I suspect if there was a threat to your daughter, you’d take a stand.
    I liked the wordplay. 😀

    1. of course that’s true, Merril… I was thinking more about political, religious, philosophical matters 🙂 … although, of course, these do spill over into existential matters too…
