Sweet, or: Savory

An atom poem

heart
pumping
blood

I feel
it pulse
in you

you’re
flushed
coral

oh yes
dearest
my pet

I know
what you
crave

sweet
talk and
licks

I love
teasing
you so

you’re
so so wet
there

that’s
a savory
taste

it’s my
piquant
treat

Atom

  • Three line stanzas=tercets;
  • Count letters: 5-7-5;
  • This form links tercets under title;
  • No punctuation or capitalization.

d’Verse: A quadrille

The above atom poem is my take on d’Verse’s Quadrille challenge #134.

The quadrille is simply a poem of 44 words (excluding the title), and it can take any form. This week’s challenge was to use the word “heart” in a quadrille.

  1. Very impressive, even more so with your additional restrictions! Very visceral, with the highly reduced stanzas leading to a sort of natural start-stop of a beating heart. Splendid work.

    This is very interesting David. Hank frequently sees a haiku of a 5-7-5 syllable count. You brought it to a higher level with a 5-7-5 letters combination. Very innovative!

      Thanks so much, but I can't take credit for this form of poetry – somebody else developed it… I just adopted his/her idea 🙂

      All best,
      David
