A triolet
Have we souls that lather, rinse, repeat?
Rather, are we of meat and spirit,
~ or: is an afterlife mere conceit?
Do our souls lather, rinse, repeat,
~ or: did God but one life each mete?
We wonder: do our essences transmit?
Have we souls that lather, rinse, repeat?
Rather, are we of meat and spirit?
P.S.
This post was scheduled in advance because I am offline for two days (between sunset on Monday and sunset on Wednesday) for the Jewish New Year.
I look forward to reconnecting with you soon!

I often wonder about this too. Would be easier if only one. But is there more to be experienced?
Lovely words and thought. ๐

That is the ultimate question and one I’m not likely to be able to answer. Some say that no one has ever come back and had an answer. Others maintain that the profound joy in heaven makes them forget to come back and provide the truth… or in the case of hell, are bound and unable to warn mankind of the peril! Excellent poem!

Happy New Year, David! โค May it be a healthier, safer, more peaceful year for our world.

I didn’t understand the meaning of ‘Rather, are we of meat and spirit,’
Whenever David you see this, Would be happy to know the meaning.

๐ DD ๐ – the poem poses somewhat a double question – 1) do we have souls and 2) if we do, is there reincarnation?
I get it now. Thanks David. It was a bit confusing
Both the questions now seem equally valid! Nice poem!
i loved the lather, rinse, and repeat theme you had going here. I suspect we are more meat and spirit. Have a restful holiday.
๐ Molly, thank you ๐
