A magnetic and strange thing, a creative force…

The best way to persuade people is with your ears – by listening to them.

Listening is being able to be changed by the other person.

Alan Alda (b. 1936)

Learning is a result of listening, which in turn leads to even better listening and attentiveness to the other person. In other words, to learn from the child, we must have empathy, and empathy grows as we learn.

At the end of the day, stories connect us, not politics. And there’s so many stories out there waiting to be told. It’s just a matter of who’s out there listening.

Anne Burrell (b. 1969)

Nina Hagen (b. 1955)

There is a difference between listening and waiting for your turn to speak.

Simon Sinek (b. 1973)

I remind myself every morning: Nothing I say this day will teach me anything. So if I’m going to learn, I must do it by listening.

Larry King (1933 โ€“ 2021)

  1. The more that can be said about listening is actually less.
I do believe listening is more powerful than talking. It forms a secure connection. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. This are brilliant… I ought to print them all the better to remember them and attempt to practice them… thanks for compiling and sharing, David. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ‘Œ

  3. some really awesome quotes here, and the cause of most issues is not really hearing what the other is saying … really being heard makes us feel supported and worthy, a skill I need to foster!

  4. Communication is difficult for me. I know part of it involves learning to pay closer attention. Which means not only better looking but better listening. Of course knowing what to do and doing it are not the same thing. (K)
