A Quadrille
In the form of a Haibun
I found myself tempted to compose a prose poem about the nearly immutable nature of stone.
However, my mind wriggled, squirming away from me.
Shield limpets, keel worms, snails and other creatures captured my imagination.
only lift the rocks
to uncover teeming life
changelessness belied
d’Verse Quadrille #137:
‘Throwing Poem Stones’
The above haibun is my take on d’Verse’s Quadrille challenge #137.
The Quadrille is simply a poem of 44 words (excluding the title), and it can take any form. This week’s challenge was to use the word “stone” in a Quadrille.

Yes, there’s so much to be discovered. Stony surfaces have many stories to tell and breathe. 🙂
