Blankie, or: The Blank Ness Monster

A Cywydd Llosgyrnog

Reeling from throes of writer's block;
Dazed, watching hands tick 'round the clock;
I, pale, gawk ~ at empty screen.
Imagination rocked by storms;
Dense jungle of poetic forms;
Wild words swarm ~ roused by caffeine.

    1. Ntebo, I wrote this when I could think of nothing else to write, and it helped me push through the block ๐Ÿ™‚

      Sometimes it helps to write about whatever I’m feeling – even if what I’m feeling is an utter lack of inspiration!

  1. This one aspect of writing makes me glad I’m an erratic writer and only post when I already have the words. Am trying to cut down tea and coffee to one cup a day as it doesn’t agree with me these days.

    1. TBH, I should cut down… I’m sure it’s not good for me… but I’m pretty addicted, and I do love the flavor of coffee with milk! I’m weak… ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. An apt description with what all creative people struggle with. The loss of the creative thread leaves us casting around like hounds looking for the scent. I’m decaffeinated and won’t go back. I get the shakes and my heart tries to exit my chest – I used to have a fairly high tolerance but since giving it up I just can’t! Even too much chocolate (especially the dark stuff) starts to affect me. This is one Welsh form that makes sense but I still avoid anything with an internal rhyme….

  3. I love the different forms of poetry you try! And what you’ve written for this one….so true! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

  4. Well, I find chewing gum and some unobstrusive instrumental music helps. ‘The Blank Ness Monster’ is a perfect description.

  5. I gave up caffeine recently for health reasons, and I was really struggling to concentrate without it. The fog is starting to clear so hopefully Iโ€™ll still be able to manage! I hope you arenโ€™t really blocked (somehow I doubt itโ€ฆ)

    1. I don’t know how miserable I would be w/o caffeine, but I don’t think I want to find out ๐Ÿ’ค …

      But I don’t think my struggle to write just now had anything to do with that, thank goodness!
