Black, or: House

A Blitz Poem

EPIGRAPH:

A poet must be a psychologist, but a secret one: he should know and feel the roots of phenomena but present only the phenomena themselves in full bloom or as they fade away.

Ivan Turgenev (1818 – 1883)
Fade away
Fade to black
Black Friday
Black magic
Magic number
Magic thinking
Thinking aloud
Thinking of you
You and me
You so silly
Silly pants
Silly string
String me along
String instrument
Instrument of torture
Instrument of power
Power to the people
Power play
Play doh
Play hard to get
Get going
Get ready
Ready to wear
Ready for anything
Anything goes
Anything but that
That's just what I needed
That is such nonsense
Nonsense upon stilts
Nonsense word
Word is bond
Word game
Game set match
Game changing
Changing of the guard
Changing room
Room service
Room for error
Error prone
Error message
Message to myself
Message in a bottle
Bottle up your feelings
Bottle tree
Tree of life
Tree house
House of Representatives
House of prostitution
Prostitution
Representatives

  • Line 49 should be the last word of Line 48
  • Line 50 should be the last word of Line 47
  • The title of the poem should be three words long and follow this format: (first word of Line 3) (preposition or conjunction) (first word of line 47)
  • There should be no punctuation

Let’s write poetry together!

When it comes to partnership, some humans can make their lives alone – it’s possible. But creatively, it’s more like painting: you can’t just use the same colours in every painting. It’s just not an option. You can’t take the same photograph every time and live with art forms with no differences.

Ben Harper (b. 1969)

Would you like to create poetry with me and have a completed poem of yours featured here at the Skeptic’s Kaddish? I am very excited to have launched the ‘Poetry Partners’ initiative and am looking forward to meeting and creating with you… Check it out!

    1. Darius, yeah – actually I think that’s one of the coolest things about the ‘blitz’ – it really is fun to see where your thoughts take you when you let go of control in this way 😀

  1. Fascinating how the title emerged from this blitz
I could embrace all the themes
    There is so much logic
And chaos inside of this blitz
Prostitution, I pray it isn’t a time bomb
And a house is so difficult to run

  2. You’re like a font of knowledge on poetry forms, I love finding out about different poetry forms on your blog. Like this one, very punchy 🤛

    1. 😁 Rae 😁 – you’re very kind, but that isn’t true… I simply look for forms on poetry websites & discover some new ones from other poets here on WordPress… I’ve only been writing poetry for ~1½ years.
