Stop asking, for I'll answer you,
extending pliant boundaries,
embellishing fresh memories;
vast worlds and words to be construed
Power and pain, born both of truth,
yearned after through the centuries;
discerning eyes may peer beneath;
all want to know -but then they do
Reality shan't be eschewed,
enticed, youths' curiosities;
wishing to know His masterpiece,
learn to despair for what's ensued
Timeless, the story continues;
we, like the rest of our species;
love overflows our arteries;
your pain -mine fiercest bugaboo

Open Link Night
For today’s Open Link Night at d’Verse, I’d like to share a poem that I wrote in the summer of 2020, not long after I’d created this blog. I wrote this for Father’s Day (USA), with my daughter (then less than 5½-years-old) in mind.
Let’s write poetry together!

When it comes to partnership, some humans can make their lives alone – it’s possible. But creatively, it’s more like painting: you can’t just use the same colours in every painting. It’s just not an option. You can’t take the same photograph every time and live with art forms with no differences.
–Ben Harper (b. 1969)
Would you like to create poetry with me and have a completed poem of yours featured here at the Skeptic’s Kaddish? I am very excited to have launched the ‘Poetry Partners’ initiative and am looking forward to meeting and creating with you… Check it out!
The story does continue, thankfully.

Power and pain, born both of truth… seems we are coming up short on both counts these days. Great poem David.

💞 Dwight 💞 – thanks!
You are welcome!
I’m having a moment
There is a familiar ache in my heart
Recurring moments
◇your pain -mine fiercest bugaboo◇
And it intensifies, magnifying my own childhood pain, and so embracing parenthood again.

Fantastic musings on the mysteries of life and the discernment of what we know and what we fear to know!
💚 Thanks, Muri 💚
This is incredibly poignant! I resonate with; “Power and pain, born both of truth.” Yes! 💝💝
💙 Sanaa 💙 – thank you

“Discerning eyes may peer beneath; all want to know–and then they do” resonated with me. Parenting–what a reality. Children, more than a mitzvah, the deepest blessings.
💜 Glenn 💜 – yeah… mitzvahs can be hard.
-David
“Power and pain, both born of truth.” Powerful and true words right there.
