Shared soul, or: You stay within me

Poetry Partners #13

A poem by Vidah (Chavi) of ‘Magical World’

You provide peace to my soul,
And a reason to my life.
You stay within me,
Still far away from my rife.
In finding you i lose,
In finding your love i get triumph.

  • This poem was written for someone whom the poet misses, on the occasion of his birthday. The two are not in touch with one another.

A Cywydd llosgyrnog by ben Alexander of ‘The Skeptic’s Kaddish’

EPIGRAPH:

What is a friend? A single soul dwelling in two bodies.

Aristotle (384–322 BCE)
Circumstances -may- deny peace,
Though true devotion's not caprice
Decease could hope to swallow.
Distance cannot rend a shared soul,
Nor time render love less than whole,
Though their toll is deep sorrow.

Let’s write poetry together!

When it comes to partnership, some humans can make their lives alone – it’s possible. But creatively, it’s more like painting: you can’t just use the same colours in every painting. It’s just not an option. You can’t take the same photograph every time and live with art forms with no differences.

Ben Harper (b. 1969)

Would you like to create poetry with me and have a completed poem of yours featured here at the Skeptic’s Kaddish? I am very excited to have launched the ‘Poetry Partners’ initiative and am looking forward to meeting and creating with you… Check it out!
