Poetry Partners #25
A very special partner
The poem below was written by Sangeetha of ‘Mindfills’, and while she was one of the very first to submit a poem for ‘Poetry Partners’, I’ve delayed publishing this piece.
You see, Sangeetha was actually my very first poetry partner; together, we produced a renga poem of 100 verses, which took us ~9 months to complete… So, I wanted first to complete that poetry project together before posting this fun, little collaboration below.
While we’ve never met in person, I feel deeply connected to Sangeetha and look forward to further creative collaborations.
Thank you so much, Sangeetha – you’re the best!
‘Wit or without‘, a blitz poem by Sangeetha of ‘Mindfills’
call me
call quick
quick wit
quick to add
add ons suck
add to bill
bill in post
bill not paid
paid in advance
paid service
service with a smile
service secret
secret compartment
secret keeper
keeper of bees
keeper to be
be kind
be silly
silly high
silly till I die
die is cast
die another day
day break
day to blitz
blitz poem
blitz it up
up to no good
up in the air
air of Nike
air that lifts
lifts my spirits
lifts to life
life lines
life in progress
progress of poet
progress on pause
pause to listen
pause button
button rose
button fell
fell a tree
fell down flat
flat liner
flat number four
four lines left
four words without
without an end
without much thought
thought...
END!

‘Love of Poetry’, a blitz poem by ben Alexander of ‘The Skeptic’s Kaddish’
With or without
With love
Love and appreciation
Love for you
You're a rockstar
You've changed my writing
Writing together
Writing's been such fun
Fun for everyone
Fun for the whole family
Family is everything
Family and friends
Friends or foes
Friends in high places
Places in the sun
Places you'll go
Go on the warpath
Go for it
It's not for nothing
It's a fact of life
Life throws curveballs
Life's a bitch
Bitch all you want
Bitch and moan
Moan something out
Moan with pleasure
Pleasure only after business
Pleasure palace
Palace intrigue
Palace politics
Politics can get very ugly
Politics is an art
Art for art's sake
Art imitates life
Life imitates art
Life inevitably ends
Ends don't justify means
Ends meet
Meet me halfway
Meet and greet
Greet your guests
Greet the season
Season the soup
Season of our discontent
Discontent is a state of mind
Discontent comes through in poetry
Poetry unites us
Poetry in motion
Motion
Us
Let’s write poetry together!

When it comes to partnership, some humans can make their lives alone – it’s possible. But creatively, it’s more like painting: you can’t just use the same colours in every painting. It’s just not an option. You can’t take the same photograph every time and live with art forms with no differences.
–Ben Harper (b. 1969)
Would you like to create poetry with me and have a completed poem of yours featured here at the Skeptic’s Kaddish? I am very excited to have launched the ‘Poetry Partners’ initiative and am looking forward to meeting and creating with you… Check it out!

Done and done.
it seems I’ve only received one short poem from you so far…
I sent the other. Let me try again
Check right now, I think there was issue with my network
Gosh, this is…. I don’t even have the words for it. Just know I’m inspired
🤍 Thanks, Henry! 🤍
-David
There’s a lot of imagery
🤗
Henry, I’d be honored if you’d like to share a poem of yours for me to respond to. If that’s up your alley, just go to this link:
Sincerely,
David
I’m very interested. Sending one soon.
There’s a 100 word limit?
TBH, that’s more of a suggestion than a hard-and-fast rule.
So if I can post a longer one, there’s no prob?
yep – just not too long please 🙂
Hoping three hundred isn’t too big, lol. I’ll send one that is good and one that gets to 100 words just for good measure. Hope the good one will make up for the length 😉
thanks
You two are on a roll. The way the short lines change words and meaning. It’s like a chain of changing thought. The links are strong. 🙂

🤗 Sofiya 🤗 ~ thanks!
Take care,
David
Lively poems, sort of like a cocktail party conversation, thoughts hopping along hand-in-hand! 🙂
💓 Cheryl 💓 – that’s such a nice analogy!
Thank you 🙂
David
Fun to read! I love the quick changes in thought and meaning, fun!
💘 Robert 💘
I’ve done a couple of these before, but this is the first time I’ve tried to convey a message in one. I think with a bit of practice, it’s possible.
Thanks,
David
