This year, I am attempting to become active on Twitter after having created an account last year to post 365 micropoems. Among other things, this means I will be responding to Twitter poetry prompts. Initially, I wasn’t planning on x-posting those here, but then I realized: if I don’t save my Twitter poems elsewhere, I’ll never again be able to find all of them.
Of course, I have written and will write plenty more Twitter poems that I’m not especially attached to, but I don’t want to lose the ones that speak to me. Below, I’m sharing three recent senryus I’m fond of. Each was a response to a one-word prompt:
#miasma

his audience sniffed;
dank back alley #miasma
hung over his notes
#godforsaken

#godforsaken truth
~ impossible with no god
~ harsh reality
#chronological

destiny's nothing
but #chronological fact
~factory of time
Let’s write poetry together!

When it comes to partnership, some humans can make their lives alone – it’s possible. But creatively, it’s more like painting: you can’t just use the same colours in every painting. It’s just not an option. You can’t take the same photograph every time and live with art forms with no differences.
–Ben Harper (b. 1969)
Would you like to create poetry with me and have a completed poem of yours featured here at the Skeptic’s Kaddish? I am very excited to have launched the ‘Poetry Partners’ initiative and am looking forward to meeting and creating with you… Check it out!
What a spin to destiny. Love it! 🙂

i’m doing something very similar, i only use twitter for the haiku prompts from @baffled…and I’m reposting them on my blog and to instagram. i’ve found that each platform has a slightly different audience, with different levels of engagement.
I’m barely juggling two platforms… Amazing that you are on three ❣️
A little darkness creeping in – I’m getting a whiff of that dank back alley aroma. Are you sensitive to SAD?
I have an issue with anxiety, but not related to time of year… Although too much darkness gets most people down, I think.
Nice haikus,David! 🙂
Technically, they’re senryus 🙃
Ohk,well,I consider them the same while writing 😉
🤡
Goddessforsaken perhaps? (K)
I don’t experience that as being different 🙃
It’s a mouthful.
