Poetry Partners #47
‘Wings’, a poem by Sarah of ‘Words and Coffee Writing’
Our Ameraucana chickens preside over their own half acre of lush grass,
claws scraping up dust to find each kernel of cracked corn we leave.
But they still jump over the fence once of year,
wings flailing, a flurry of feathers trailing,
to peck into tart crab apples that fall from the tree,
juice spraying their brown-gray feathers
as they poke and gouge the fallen fruit.
A ‘golden shovel’ by ben Alexander of โThe Skepticโs Kaddishโ
(in blank verse)
Stray cats on Israel's sidewalks are as common as rats in New York City. They forage through dumpsters; the bolder ones poke at people's shins (desperate, no doubt) and wrangle fiercely for scraps, trying to gouge each other's eyes. It's survival of the fittest on the street; the feline fallen get disposed of, along with rotting fruit.
Let’s write poetry together!

When it comes to partnership, some humans can make their lives alone – it’s possible. But creatively, it’s more like painting: you can’t just use the same colours in every painting. It’s just not an option. You can’t take the same photograph every time and live with art forms with no differences.
–Ben Harper (b. 1969)
Would you like to create poetry with me and have a completed poem of yours featured here at the Skeptic’s Kaddish? I am very excited to have launched the ‘Poetry Partners’ initiative and am looking forward to meeting and creating with you… Check it out!

You’re so welcome!! Thanks~! ๐บ๐บ
A serious approach and poetic critique of the streets of Israel!
And I wish to note that these environmental issues should
Grasp the mind of poets , since it is the literati that can capture the
Minds of the the general public to stimulate social cohesion
For appropriate action which benefits everyone.
Bravo to both minds at play
๐as they poke and gouge the fallen fruit๐
Well done
Excellent
