Naked and holding the umbrella

Even the cassava crop was dying. The colony couldn’t last much longer.

“Jack…”

“No! She’s too capricious!”

“We’ve no choice! We must perform the ritual… Look… I’ll… get the umbrella.”

Jack sighed, removed his clothing, and followed Isaac, now also naked and holding the umbrella.

“Oh, Holy One,” they intoned, “Please grant your playthings rain…”

  1. Oh, the things we do for cassava… 😀 This sparks memories of horror tales I’ve read in the past where the ultimate sacrifice was required to save the day. Fun stuff, David! 🙂

  2. I love this. It feels melodramatic in a good way. Entertaining. Conveys emotion … less concerned with plot or characters … gotta pick your focus on micro!

      1. This word capricious is stuck there in my brain . Oh yes, this constant forgetfulness reminder. I can’t seem to recall in which context i read it not too long ago, or was it a mood of just yesterday. Oh never mind.
        The casavas are safe.
        The rain dance has yielded
        The image is hilarious
Intonation standing in the lake, naked and holding the umbrella

        The rain did came

        Perfect.

  3. I love the artwork almost as much as the story. (I’m having issues so forgive me if I’ve sent this twice in pieces and parts. It’s freezing in Michigan and, as a result, my brain is frozen too.
