This year, I am attempting to become active on Twitter after having created an account last year to post 365 micropoems. Among other things, this means I will be responding to Twitter poetry prompts. Initially, I wasn’t planning on x-posting those here, but then I realized: if I don’t save my Twitter poems elsewhere, I’ll never again be able to find all of them.
Of course, I have written and will write plenty more Twitter poems that I’m not especially attached to, but I don’t want to lose the ones that speak to me. Below, I’m sharing three recent senryus I’m fond of. Each was a response to a one-word (or photo) prompt:
photo prompt (#vsspic)

enraged, abandoned by bride, pianist dismissed, crumpled boutonniรจre
#presage

his Presidency was an ominous #presage of the State's decline
#bare

she bared her feelings as she lay there, waiting, #bare but he barely cared
Let’s write poetry together!

When it comes to partnership, some humans can make their lives alone – it’s possible. But creatively, it’s more like painting: you can’t just use the same colours in every painting. It’s just not an option. You can’t take the same photograph every time and live with art forms with no differences.

Would you like to create poetry with me and have a completed poem of yours featured here at the Skeptic’s Kaddish? I am very excited to have launched the ‘Poetry Partners’ initiative and am looking forward to meeting and creating with you… Check it out!
Love all three of these, David. So individually distinct and thoughtful. ๐

The photo and poem are certainly well matched. The last makes me sad – but that’s just me.

David, this idea of micro-poetry is novel to me. I like it! This is a way to stem guilt from underusing my languishing Twitter account.
I can’t claim credit for the idea, but I’ve become a great fan of it, Bardie โฃ๏ธ
