South of Ukraine, or: Not by Russia

My 1st Sparrowlet

South of Ukraine... not by Russia...
Stuck in Moldova... Gosh, such a
frustrating and unforeseen pain
that my wife is there and thus - a
traveler stranded with no plane...
Not by Russia... South of Ukraine...

d’Verse prompt: The Sparrowlet

At d’Verse, poets were prompted to try their hands at constructing sparrowlets:

  • meter: iambic tetrameter;
  • a sestet โ€“ a poem with 6 lines;
  • the first ยฝ and the second ยฝ of line 1 make up a refrain, which is switched in the final line;
  • rhyme scheme:
    • XXXA XXXB
    • xxxxxxxb
    • xxxxxxxa
    • xxxxxxxb
    • xxxxxxxa
    • XXXB XXXA

Let’s write poetry together!

When it comes to partnership, some humans can make their lives alone – it’s possible. But creatively, it’s more like painting: you can’t just use the same colours in every painting. It’s just not an option. You can’t take the same photograph every time and live with art forms with no differences.

Would you like to create poetry with me and have a completed poem of yours featured here at the Skeptic’s Kaddish? I am very excited to have launched the ‘Poetry Partners’ initiative and am looking forward to meeting and creating with you… Check it out!

  1. The brevity here just underlines the stark and bleak reality. May all be safe with you and yours, and may the people of Ukraine survive this with their country and sovereignty intact.

  2. Peace David to you and your family. I am so regretful of the state of the world in your neighborhood. America and Israel arenโ€™t perfect, but we are free and together. Russia as dominated by Putin is the problem. God bless Ukraine and may God send a blessed aneurysm to Putin.
