Poetry Partners #71
A poem by Anca of ‘Poèmia’
Fell in love with a stunning oasis
In the middle of a river
With its marvellous cliffs
This place made me a believer.
Stood beside a sycamore
Watching the boats gliding,
Sensing an overwhelming peace
Entangled with a perfumed breeze.
This essence reminds me
Of the subtle flower fairies.
And I wonder how much we estranged
Since they won't let me see them.

A décima espinela by ben Alexander of ‘The Skeptic’s Kaddish’
Read her stanzas and was pulled through the sky;
Plummeted up through clear sparkling river;
Watched lobed leaves of tall sycamore shiver;
Saw flower fairies fleet flit, follow, fly
'Neath cliffs sheer, marvelous, towering high.
There, young woman observing boats gliding,
Soaking in peace scene fair was providing;
Was some magic fay borne on perfumed breeze?
Shy pixies peeked from behind smooth, pale trees;
Love-bewitched... didn't note small sprites hiding.
Décima?
- syllabic: octosyllabic;
- 10 lines to the stanza;
- rhymed: a/b/b/a/a/c/c/d/d/a
Muri’s poetry scavenger hunt

My friend Muri (Val) is running a poetry scavenger hunt for Na/GloPoWriMo, which I shall attempt to participate in fully this year.
From what I understand, she’s offering three poetry prompts every week for the duration of the month of April ’22 (on MWF).
Last year, I was pretty busy with my personal micropoetry project so I only responded to several of her poetry challenges, but this year I hope to rectify that!
Let’s write poetry together!

When it comes to partnership, some humans can make their lives alone – it’s possible. But creatively, it’s more like painting: you can’t just use the same colours in every painting. It’s just not an option. You can’t take the same photograph every time and live with art forms with no differences.
–Ben Harper (b. 1969)
Would you like to create poetry with me and have a completed poem of yours featured here at the Skeptic’s Kaddish? I am very excited to have launched the ‘Poetry Partners’ initiative and am looking forward to meeting and creating with you… Check it out!

Anca created a peaceful poetic scene that offered respite for a busy day. ✨ I love the other perspective offered in your poem, David. An enchanting collaboration!

Wonderful piece✨😄
🤍 Deeksha 🤍
Yes, your poem captured that wonderful feeling of magic afoot, or stumbling upon such places, in nature. Exquisite.
💕 Susan 💕
Oh my! You took Anca’s poem and stood it on its head!! I felt that her poem was almost a lament for the innocence of childhood and then you took the perspective that if we only open our eyes all the wonder is still available… A beautiful partnership! (and you managed the prompt too!)

Thank you, Bridgette!
Anca, you accidentally did not respond to Bridgette’s comment.
