d’Verse Quadrille #154
The above poem is my take on d’Verse’s Quadrille challenge.
The Quadrille is simply a poem of 44 words (excluding the title), and it can take any form. This week’s challenge was to use the word “spell” in a Quadrille (and, technically, I failed to do so).
Let’s write poetry together!

Some excellent verses in all forms give me pause to meditate, but my favorite verses always make me smile..
You may know that Robert Aiken wrote (on bopsecrets.org/gateway/passages/basho-frog.htm) that “haiku” means “play verse” (a contracted combination of those two Japanese root words)
Of the 31 poets’ English translations of Basho’s “Frog” haiku on that page, my favorite, you shouldn’t be surprised to learn, has three syllables. 🙂
