Doubtful thoughts, or: Fed souls

Poetry Partners #103

‘Doubtful Thoughts’, a poem by Grace Y. Estevez – Reddy of ‘Grace of the Sun’

Doubts that swim inside my head,
on my way but sit instead.
Insecurities that spread,
doubts that linger in my head.

Took each step but feel misled,
not suspecting I would dread.
Doubts that float inside my head,
returning from where they fled.

Holds me back, freezing my tread,
doubts that cry inside my head.
Remember the words you said,
watch as hesitance is shed.

Doubts that drown inside my head,
rest in peace, buried and dead.
Follow where my soul is led,
doubts that float out of my head.

In my eyes my heart is read,
push through doubts to fly ahead.
Doubts that laid upon my head,
flew away from where they fed.

A poem by ben Alexander of ‘The Skeptic’s Kaddish’

Head forth into the future
Instead of living in doubt;
Spread your wings; soar 'pon the breeze
Head first into times unknown

Misled children must grow past
Dread; believe they can achieve;
Head forward, past all those that
Fled from the past and got lost

Tread your way; it's yours to choose,
Head full of dreams, some you've not
Said; but they're within you, so
Shed those dread inhibitions

Head in the clouds, feet on earth;
Dead ends ought not deter you;
Led by your worthy insights,
Head and heart will guide you well

Read and learn from voices past;
Ahead of you potential lies;
Head out to nurture yourself;
Fed souls bloom reliably

When it comes to partnership, some humans can make their lives alone – it’s possible. But creatively, it’s more like painting: you can’t just use the same colours in every painting. It’s just not an option. You can’t take the same photograph every time and live with art forms with no differences.
