Two horses, or: Nightmares

Poetry Partners #111

‘Am I dreaming?’, a poem by Benjamin Nambu of ‘Wealthy and ambitious entrepeneurs network’

Two horses charge through a misty forest unto a dusty road
As if pursued by an invisible being
As if racing to the end of the world
Reminds me of something I could no longer remember
Like a dream I cannot fully remember
I can sense from the drumming of their feet
That something is coming

A ‘cleave’ poem by ben Alexander of ‘The Skeptic’s Kaddish’

two horses charge through a misty forest unto a dusty road along the edge of a jagged cliff
as if pursued by an invisible beingthat beckons me too urgently with its siren song
as if racing to the end of the worldpast the granular, hazy horizon
reminds me of something I could no longer rememberin the dark, distant recesses of my mind
like a dream I cannot fully remembera thick, gravelly voice whispers, ‘Come…’
I can sense from the drumming of their feetsomething is amiss, I sense something… something…
that something is coming… something far worse than an unnatural death

Let’s write poetry together!

When it comes to partnership, some humans can make their lives alone – it’s possible. But creatively, it’s more like painting: you can’t just use the same colours in every painting. It’s just not an option. You can’t take the same photograph every time and live with art forms with no differences.

Ben Harper (b. 1969)
