Alighting askew upon the dunes

Sahir looked up from the monarch’s bloated corpse on the shore at the child’s tear-stained face, deftly flicking his hand skywards. “Princeling, we must return you to your family’s alcázar immediately.”

The boy gawked as a closed door in a sturdy frame plummeted earthwards from above the clouds, swinging open just before alighting askew upon the dunes. Tenderly, the magic-user winked, “It’s a neat toy, yes? Now… go quickly! You have not a moment to spare!”

  1. For a 76-word tale, there’s a lot of depth and some brilliant characterization happening here. My mind spins with possibilities regarding what has taken place and what happens next! Great writing and imagination as always, good sir! 🙂
