What. or: I can’t even.

A ‘Septolet’

I reread it

raped a one-year-old
with a candlestick,
murdering him.

The Septolet is a poem consisting of seven lines containing fourteen words with a break anywhere in between the two parts. Both parts deal with the same thought and create a picture.

Let’s write poetry together!

When it comes to partnership, some humans can make their lives alone – it’s possible. But creatively, it’s more like painting: you can’t just use the same colours in every painting. It’s just not an option. You can’t take the same photograph every time and live with art forms with no differences.

Ben Harper (b. 1969)

Would you like to create poetry with me and have a completed poem of yours featured here at the Skeptic’s Kaddish? I am very excited to have launched the ‘Poetry Partners’ initiative and am looking forward to meeting and creating with you… Check it out!

  1. P.S. – in the late 1800s of US Marshalls, etc., was the history point – just to demonstrate – nothing new here, really, to me, either – cuz, I like making points while poking fun at myself, or being honest about my ‘motherland’s’ history – simply for honesty – ain’t no one fully innocent in any national front – no matter how folks try to be, when the dogs of war are loosed.

      1. I’m a thinking, 6 weeks not up yet – thus, figure this front even more on your radar, because, in one way or another – in your own home??? Um, yeah – I’m a ‘catching up’ but seems to me, you live in a home while family members on two sides of a conflict, are visiting over it all – sigh – how often loyalties are pulled this way and that – I thought of that, too, while writing ‘broader human history’ reply – To me? it’s just not always easy to separate out all the external forces at play and internal conflicts, too – all at once – prayers still being said for many – ❤

  2. War is hell and most fully carried out when the basest parts of mankinds dark souls are given full reign, to sweep through a land with shock and horror – whether on the physical field, the news, etc. The sad thing is through cold war, Geneva conventions, etc., so many believe we can have a ‘better level of war’ on various political, national or religious fronts – me? Nope – we cannot – for those who sign up for such positions to be on front lines – whether for noble, honorable, motherland fronts OR for their own quest of lust, power, greed, willingness to win no matter the cost?

Thin line between those two idealogies – in case ya haven’t run across it, in your reading research?

I’ll give ya an example – in America, many U.S. Marshalls, leaders in territories, law enforcement, etc., were also those with wanted in the East of America “states’ for many things – gambling, deserter from army (either North or South, for our own Civil war), militant local groups, etc….

thus, the line between saint and sinner is very thin, all throughout history – when the dogs of war come out? On small (local law enforcement) or big (national war fronts) stages? Ugly things happen, always –

    1. are you always so positive, Tamrah? (just kidding!)

seriously, though, thanks for laying all of this out – I really appreciate your insights here, and I agree with all that you’ve written 100%!

      1. LOL – I’m NEVER Positive – just ask everyone who sighs and shakes their head over me – but who still show up, in their hard times, cuz they are “positive” I can “Help” them –

I don’t show up to be a wet blanket or hateful – I show up in realism – from what I actually know, in my own experience or to tell the tales of those who shared it with me – their stories – the world is ugly and not positive – and yeah – we need positivity and faith and heart and courage to meet the world as it is – on the other hand – I’ve never heard, ever, of anyone winning/solving an issue, challenge, etc., while they hid away from the reality of what ‘is’ just now – my bias? Those who hide from it?

        Cowards – 😀
You don’t hide – thus, in my world – ahhh – I do so really appreciate these folks that don’t ‘hide’ in their life/what they see –

          1. There is a line from an HBO series, titled “The Newsroom” that I love….

“The first step in solving any problem is recognizing there is one” – –

It’s rough – it’s from 2012 – but here’s the ‘artist’ clip where that quote is taken from – an HBO mini series – and yes, I don’t care about the stats listed, the rhetoric said, in the series – I care about the quote and a few key phrases – that get lost in a world that wishes to ignore issues and hope they go away all by themselves – 😀

            And – as usual?
The artists, the creatives, the movie moguls, the writers of fiction? Point out core points in scripted world with perfectly placed characters, etc……

Points and voices made everywhere, so often – straining to be heard, by many – and where does that really reach out and take place?

Via artists – poets, writers, etc., IF – they choose to go after the story of humanity – and not the ad revenues or views – 😀

          2. P.S. – Did you know, that sometimes? Infant and Maternal Mortality rates are all lumped into one stats set here? It’s been done – recent events in my country mean – many, many, are willing to see those stats climb even higher – all while they purport to care about all life – They have a problem – their ardent opponents have a problem to – I don’t see many, in public offices or individuals, really, saying publicly, they understand fully what the entire problem is – America has hungry people too – homeless people – retired soldiers left without care – but – for awhile, it seems (so very much longer than I thought it could really sustain itself by ignoring growing probems – um – well – maybe somehwere – someones are working hard to keep it all together – many average citizens? Talking about why they are right and their opponent is wrong – and well – talking points don’t solve issues – not really – 😀
That’s my ‘check’ in with you – on the real ‘world news report’ from various countries – why?

Um, because – often? I read blogs of many world wide – just to see what ‘boots’ n the ground looks like, really – 😀

          3. Nope – thanks for the share – I don’t follow homeless outreach on any front – other than knowing it has existed for long time, growing on many fronts and the wages paid, by who, here and there, for capitalism shark tank – I will check out – I’m suspecting it tells the stories of folks who basically say, “There but the grace of God go you…” – but I will wait to land on front – until I look at – The only folks who don’t worry about being homeless?

Those not paying attention or believe it wil never happen to them – sigh –

          4. the guy who runs this organization is formerly homeless himself & he has lots of interviews of homeless ppl on his channel, which are really moving
