Angel, or: Demon

Poetry Partners #122

‘Reverse Abecedarium‘, a poem by Di of ‘pensitivity101’

Zig zags carve my mind, bringing forth
Youthful reminders of
Xenial days revolving around friends and family.
Withered and dying,
Voices begin to echo
Unbidden and unwelcome
Through my subconsciousness,
Succumbing to illogical
Reason, it is hard to
Quantify their existence.
Pulsing and painful,
Obsessive and oppressive,
Nobodies
Manifest themselves.
Lest these demons take hold,
Killing my sanity by
Jostling and jeopardising my
Identity, it is
Happy Days, fond memories which
Guard and protect my
Fragile persona,
Expertly
Diverting the
Cancerous delusions,
Banishing them from my soul:
Alert and aware, they are my Angel.

A reverse ‘abecedarian’ by ben Alexander of ‘The Skeptic’s Kaddish’

Zhuzhing myself in the mirror, I see
Yesteryear's cultic
Xoana in my worn,
Wooden
Visage; vestiges of
Ubiquitous
Temples lie littered across
Sceneries of the silvered soul; sullied
Regrettably by unrelenting
Questions regarding
Power politics,
Online abuse, oppression of the most
Needy and desperate elements of society
Mortality rates among innocent infants,
Levels upon levels of our lived
Kafkaesque reality; Divine
Justice seemingly never
Impending for
Heinous evils, even while
God is
Frequently
Evoked of a deep
Disquietude by
Clergy and laity alike, desperate to
Believe that all is no mere
Accident.

Let’s write poetry together!

When it comes to partnership, some humans can make their lives alone – it’s possible. But creatively, it’s more like painting: you can’t just use the same colours in every painting. It’s just not an option. You can’t take the same photograph every time and live with art forms with no differences.

Ben Harper (b. 1969)

Would you like to create poetry with me and have a completed poem of yours featured here at the Skeptic’s Kaddish? I am very excited to have launched the ‘Poetry Partners’ initiative and am looking forward to meeting and creating with you… Check it out!
