A dark limerick
The life of the party, ol' Vivacious Viv, Would dance like she had no f**ks to give; But afterwards, her mood would fall; She'd slam into that tall, dark wall... Few knew that -daily- Viv had to choose to live.

Let’s write poetry together!

When it comes to partnership, some humans can make their lives alone – it’s possible. But creatively, it’s more like painting: you can’t just use the same colours in every painting. It’s just not an option. You can’t take the same photograph every time and live with art forms with no differences.

I think that’s a choice many people have to make, especially in these dark times.
I love when a serious matter is discussed in a lighthearted poetry form.

I fear there are so many that feel this way and remain silent. It is not easy to share this part of ourselves.
Thanks for writing about this topic.

What a sad reality that she saw only one choice.

So sad. Reminds me a little of Simon & Garfunkel’s song “Richard Cory”. We have listened to it in the car so many times in the last 3 years but it was only last week that I concentrated on the lyrics.
😦 Jo 😦 ~ I actually love that song so much. S & G were genius musicians. I totally get how this poem conjures that up for you.
There are people like that, I am sooo fortunate that it’s not me.
The one(s) who helped her get this way should be in prison, for a long time.
