Coffee? or: Oops, no.

An ‘Anna’ poem

Another week
begins; I'm here at the
office; but I want nothing more
than to write poetry; perhaps I should
chug this coffee? Oops, no. Now I
am hyperfocused on
these damn iambs.

‘Anna’ poem?

  • a heptastich: 7 lines;
  • not rhyming;
  • metric: iambic (ba-BUM) pattern;
    • L1 dimeter (ba-BUM, ba-BUM),
    • L2 trimeter (ba-BUM, ba-BUM, ba-BUM),
    • L3 tetrameter (ba-BUM, ba-BUM, ba-BUM, ba-BUM),
    • L4 pentameter (ba-BUM, ba-BUM, ba-BUM, ba-BUM, ba-BUM),
    • L5 tetrameter (ba-BUM, ba-BUM, ba-BUM, ba-BUM),
    • L6 trimeter (ba-BUM, ba-BUM, ba-BUM),
    • L7 dimeter (ba-BUM, ba-BUM).

Let’s write poetry together!

When it comes to partnership, some humans can make their lives alone – it’s possible. But creatively, it’s more like painting: you can’t just use the same colours in every painting. It’s just not an option. You can’t take the same photograph every time and live with art forms with no differences.

Would you like to create poetry with me and have a completed poem of yours featured here at the Skeptic’s Kaddish? I am very excited to have launched the ‘Poetry Partners’ initiative and am looking forward to meeting and creating with you… Check it out!

  1. The two greatest addictions! If only I could learn to like coffee! As it is being a poetry addict I find that there are more support groups for the harmful addictions.

    Thank you for this Sunday morning muse, speaking to the stressed and the unstressed you.

    Let me prepare my own cuppa
    By now you’d strike the balance between the two

    I muse.
