President, or: Pope

A ‘Septolet’

President Xi withholds
public support
Putin’s war.

Pope Francis supports
Ukraine weaponry.

The Septolet is a poem consisting of seven lines containing fourteen words with a break anywhere in between the two parts. Both parts deal with the same thought and create a picture.

Let’s write poetry together!

When it comes to partnership, some humans can make their lives alone – it’s possible. But creatively, it’s more like painting: you can’t just use the same colours in every painting. It’s just not an option. You can’t take the same photograph every time and live with art forms with no differences.

Would you like to create poetry with me and have a completed poem of yours featured here at the Skeptic’s Kaddish? I am very excited to have launched the ‘Poetry Partners’ initiative and am looking forward to meeting and creating with you… Check it out!

  1. The Pope and Chicom… alone at last!😂

    I’d say it’s funny how this war was playing out … if people getting killed was funny. My country’s feckless retreat in Afghanistan had to have emboldened Putin. And here we sit having done little other than root for Ukraine and wear flags in our lapels and the war is going very badly for our enemy. Sometimes the moves you don’t make are the best moves of all.

    For now at least.

    This remains a very dangerous war. Maybe more now than ever.

    1. Definitely true about the retreat from Afghanistan.

      Although I would say that Ukraine wouldn’t stand a chance at all without the USA providing it with military equipment and intel.

  2. The taking of sides – reminds me of school yard “picking teams”. Always the formality before the conflict begins in earnest… I’m hoping that this is not the beginning of a world war. Putin seems to be leaning toward the nuclear option – a win at all costs strategy.

    1. ❤ Muri ❤ ~ I hope so too, but his increasing loss of support at home makes the nuclear option less likely. Also, that would force the hand of otherwise neutral powers to take action against him.
