My seven-year-old daughter is not inherently opposed to healthy food, but there exists a very small subset of healthy foods that she is willing to eat without creating a fuss. One is a salmon vegetable soup that my wife makes, which leaves our daughter smacking her lips and asking for more.
Whenever my wife goes abroad, as she does several times a year for work, she always makes sure to prepare a big pot of this beloved soup for our beloved child.
d’Verse Haibun Monday: Soup’s on!
At d’Verse, writers are encouraged to write soup-themed haibuns.
Let’s write poetry together!

When it comes to partnership, some humans can make their lives alone – it’s possible. But creatively, it’s more like painting: you can’t just use the same colours in every painting. It’s just not an option. You can’t take the same photograph every time and live with art forms with no differences.

That soup looks tasty!! Son#2 was anti-soup for years. He did grow up and now has found that soup is delicious, nutritious, and economical to make! Saturday was Chili soup, tonight was Tom Yum soup!!
๐๐๐ป Muri ๐๐ป๐ ~ I love tom yum

A wonderful read, David! I appreciated the way you articulated your daughter’s eating habits. My daughter was a fussy eater. A challenging child, she was! The good news… she now loves veggies and is an amazing cook. ๐ I enjoy making and eating homemade soup, so I am enjoying this prompt.

She a lucky girl. I think I mentioned elsewhere that I believe I was almost a teenager before I learned that not all soup came out of cans.

Yummy. I remember when my youngest would say “I don’t eat things I swim with” and last night she downed raw oysters. It’s nice when there tastes change David! ๐
