I. A senryū series
1.
Sweetheart, be careful!
The curb's much too dangerous;
you could slip and fall.
2.
Traffic's slowing down;
the light's going to change soon;
ready to run, Dear?
3.
Okay! Take my hand;
let's cross before we miss it...
Shoot! Our bus went by!
II. A senryū
Are you sure, Mister
Policeman? I'm quite certain
the light was orange!
#TankaTuesday
These senryū were written for Colleen Chesebro’s “Taste the Rainbow” Tanka Tuesday prompt, which is to write syllabic poetry featuring [at least] one color.
Let’s write poetry together!

When it comes to partnership, some humans can make their lives alone – it’s possible. But creatively, it’s more like painting: you can’t just use the same colours in every painting. It’s just not an option. You can’t take the same photograph every time and live with art forms with no differences.
–Ben Harper (b. 1969)
Would you like to create poetry with me and have a completed poem of yours featured here at the Skeptic’s Kaddish? I am very excited to have launched the ‘Poetry Partners’ initiative and am looking forward to meeting and creating with you… Check it out!
Very nice with the text colors. Isn’t it great to be able to do that?
To play with the colors, you mean, Stephanie? For sure! It’s fun and adds a lot of flavor!
❤
David
It’s always orange, isn’t it?
yep, unless I’m holding my daughter’s hand 🙂
Understood.
🤗
Wonderfully done, David. Love it.
💙🙏🏻 Yassy 🙏🏻💙 ~ thank you so much
Welcome much much 🤗
love the laughter you evoked in me David.. thanks 💗🤣🙏🏼
🖤🙏🏻 Cindy 🙏🏻🖤
❤️💗
Ha, Ha! Very clever senryu. Good humor, too. 😀
💖🙏🏻 Colleen 🙏🏻💖
I’ve missed that bus many times. (K)
💓🙏🏻 Kerfe 🙏🏻💓 ~ it’s a major bummer when I’m taking her to school
Yes it is.
Teaching pedestrian safety is one essential lesson… there are too many who don’t want to learn. I would just point to the dead squirrels and say that they didn’t follow the rules… Son#2 held my hand crossing streets until he was starting middle school! I love the do as I say and not as I do senryu series.
💗🙏🏻 Muri 🙏🏻💗 ~ until middle school? Wow!
You are so right. There are too many J walkers here. Lights, as in the Green flashing man are there for a reason.
Too many motorists who shoot through on amber or even red. I had one cross my path as I was in the middle of the crossing my light was green.
= dead pedestrians on Crossings and then the Police draw around the place where body was. But it doesn’t seem to deter anyone.
😔
Very nifty 💜💜
💝🤘🏻 thanks, Willow 🤘🏻💝
really cool series.
it’s very true to life too, ❤ Jude ❤
Thanks,
David
Ha! A witty take on the challenge.
I put the “wit” in “twit” 🙃
Morning smiles always acceptable 😉
😁
This is why scholar patrol at schools are so important
And no you can’t trust the orange light when you on your own.
Green is good to go
Watch out though
For the reckless driver.
The number II is so powerful.
🧡 🙏🏻 Abi 🙏🏻 🧡
Lol, why you giving me the 🧡
You welcome 🙏🏼
🍊 Abi 🍊 ~ how about this? 🤪
Are those tomatoes?
The most versatile vegetable or fruit
I think they’re supposed to be oranges 😃
🤣, oh well
here’s a vegetable/fruit traffic light for you:
🍅 – tomato
🍋 – lemon
🥬 – leafy green
Very attractive
You kind
A vitamin C boost is always good
As for leafy green, oh yes, I’ve come of age.
I miss the peaches though.
🍑 Abi 🍑
Lol, thank you.
They look like the yellow clinging, which are my favourites
Then comes the clingstone, almost a tomato red.
Ready, steady, go!
