Blue, or: Red pill

A tanka

extrinsic forces
mustn't rule our emotions
freedom's internal
advertisements play on doubts
politicians stump on fears

Sammi’s Weekend Writing Prompt #284

This tanka was written for Sammi’s WWP #284, which was to write a poem or a piece of prose in exactly 16 words using the word โ€œRuleโ€.

Let’s write poetry together!

When it comes to partnership, some humans can make their lives alone – it’s possible. But creatively, it’s more like painting: you can’t just use the same colours in every painting. It’s just not an option. You can’t take the same photograph every time and live with art forms with no differences.

Ben Harper (b. 1969)

Would you like to create poetry with me and have a completed poem of yours featured here at the Skeptic’s Kaddish? I am very excited to have launched the ‘Poetry Partners’ initiative and am looking forward to meeting and creating with you… Check it out!

  1. Yes!! they shouldn’t, but they do
    We mustn’t allow them too.

At the close of the day –
Each pill has a different effect on our behavior and in the pursuit of our goals, also our careers and lifestyles.
    What shall it be
    Red or Blue
    The Rule
    Both must be satisfying,
    pleasant and rewarding.
