The cure for anything

The cure for anything is salt water: sweat, tears or the sea.

Karen Blixen (1885 – 1962)

For WQW this week, we are encouraged to write about a memorable trip; but, to be honest, I’m rather a homebody. In fact, for years, when my daughter was very little, I resisted going to the beach with my wife and child, but as she’s gotten older, this position has become untenable, and I finally gave in to her.

Unlike me, my wife loves going to the beach and talking long walks along the shore. Personally, I’m not much into the sand, but I do enjoy the undulations of the sea. For the past two summers, we’ve rented an apartment in Haifa, and our seven-year-old was thrilled to visit the beach with both of us. Her joy at our family outings was definitely worth it for me.

Also, floating on my back in the waves was wonderfully relaxing… And I even enjoyed washing the salt water off under the cold beach showers afterwards.
