Ukraine seizes the initiative and liberates swathes of territory. Russia proposes a “short truce”.
The Septolet is a poem consisting of seven lines containing fourteen words with a break anywhere in between the two parts. Both parts deal with the same thought and create a picture.
Let’s write poetry together!
When it comes to partnership, some humans can make their lives alone – it’s possible. But creatively, it’s more like painting: you can’t just use the same colours in every painting. It’s just not an option. You can’t take the same photograph every time and live with art forms with no differences.–Ben Harper (b. 1969)
Would you like to create poetry with me and have a completed poem of yours featured here at the Skeptic’s Kaddish? I am very excited to have launched the ‘Poetry Partners’ initiative and am looking forward to meeting and creating with you… Check it out!

For the entire world, I pray this war would end.
Retrieving your land that others have expropriated by war or law is an extremely emotional matter.
All the same brilliant contrast portrayed.

Ukraine should keep moving with the forward momentum, but I believe the people might be tired.
Molly, do you mean the soldiers?
I think the whole country must be so tired from all the fighting. I know they will keep going on, but it seems like they have suffered so much as a nation.
They have, but it’s existential for them – that’s one of the major differences between the two sides. The Ukrainians are motivated and their morale is high. The Russians are demotivated and their morale is low. The Russian soldiers don’t want to be there, away from their families and their jobs, fighting a pointless war and possibly getting killed. And that’s not to mention the freezing winter that they’ll have to suffer through – some without tents at all and some with tents that have holes in them.
I hope this war ends soon. It seems to be hurting both countries.
My uneducated opinion is that Ukraine shouldn’t give them a chance to get their act back together but push its advantage.
