REBLOG: ‘Sleep Writing’ by Yassy Khan

Poem:

Poems whisper to me as I prepare for bed
Like a lullaby I hear them in my head
I fall asleep holding my notebook tight
Clutch my pen feeling the ink glowing bright
I dream I am writing in my slumber
But when awake I canโ€™t remember
To capture elusive words that run asunder
Many a time I make a wordy blunder
I try to get back words from where they meander
There is no paper, there is no pen
I donโ€™t have to cross my tโ€™s
And dot my iโ€™s
I donโ€™t need to write a rhyme
Or make the syllables chime
My mind letโ€™s go and feels sublime
With the spoken word I converse
Dreams come to me in the form of a verse
A monologue
In a soliloquy
A symphony of my
Soulโ€™s piquancy.

  1. If a yes is to jest
Can I say I’m them the best
    An insult for a con
    Descend in her pubis moms
Like a fold, I see so clear
What this poet tends to hold dear
    Who’s clever now?

        1. Please feel free to call me ‘David’ ~ that’s my first name.

The word ‘ben’ simply means ‘son of’ in Hebrew, and my father’s name was ‘Alexander’. I created this blog in his memory, you see.

I know it’s confusing because ‘Ben’ is also a popular name in English ~ I’m sorry for the confusion!

  2. This is a brilliant poem by Yassy David! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘Just commented on the original post! A perfect description of the writers life especially during the night. ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘Œ

  3. Lovely lucid dreaming
Khan has a knack for storytelling
    Composed in poetry
    In the dreaming of dreams
    Questioned secrets are revealed
In a dazzling interpretation of the image.
