A ‘Waltz Wave’
por- tals ex- ist, my child; that, perhaps, is what I'd most like to impart to you while you yet perceive me as an au- thori- ty in your budding world - just - be- lieve.
โWhat do you seeโ Prompt #170
The ‘waltz wave’ poem above was written for Sadjeโs weekly #WDYS prompt.
Sadje offers us this a digital art image of a man standing in front of a square portal that shows a scene from another world. Stairs lead up to this portal.
Writers are to use this digital image as inspiration to produce art.
Let’s write poetry together!

When it comes to partnership, some humans can make their lives alone – it’s possible. But creatively, it’s more like painting: you can’t just use the same colours in every painting. It’s just not an option. You can’t take the same photograph every time and live with art forms with no differences.
–Ben Harper (b. 1969)
Would you like to create poetry with me and have a completed poem of yours featured here at the Skeptic’s Kaddish? I am very excited to have launched the ‘Poetry Partners’ initiative and am looking forward to meeting and creating with you… Check it out!
Nice piece! I have this strange idea. One of these days, David, probably on a weekend, I’d like to scroll back through several of your posts, and see the different poetry forms. My idea is a series of poems, essentially with the same message/theme, but all in different forms (American Sentence, Haiku, etc.). But then, I get lots of ideas that fade. I can’t let that keep happening. Thanks again for sharing!
๐๐๐ป Paul ๐๐ป๐ ~ that’s a great idea
Now, if only I can follow through!

interesting line breaks and punctuation that made reading a very special experience. Enjoyed this poem very much.
๐๐๐ป Gina ๐๐ป๐ ~ thanks! This form specifically encourages breaking words across lines, and it’s fun to play with that.
~David
this a new to me form – it does sound like you had much fun with it. Finding the right word that could pivot was very clever of you.
