Dopamine rush, or: Rush

A limerick-riddle

'Tis why rather than workin', I verse;
Sure, rhymin's fun, though such a curse!
While through my mind wit romps,
Per its wont with word prompts,
Meeting deadlines means my verse must be terse!

(What is it?)

W3 poetry prompt

The above limerick-riddle was written for Brandon Ellrich’s W3 poetry prompt this week, which is to compose a riddle or “puzzle” poem, with no restrictions on length or rhyme.

Let’s write poetry together!

When it comes to partnership, some humans can make their lives alone – it’s possible. But creatively, it’s more like painting: you can’t just use the same colours in every painting. It’s just not an option. You can’t take the same photograph every time and live with art forms with no differences.

Ben Harper (b. 1969)

Would you like to create poetry with me and have a completed poem of yours featured here at the Skeptic’s Kaddish? I am very excited to have launched the ‘Poetry Partners’ initiative and am looking forward to meeting and creating with you… Check it out!

  1. this seems exactly right
how unfair that time is so tight
but we must give in to the muse
    whose time we can’t choose
sometimes it’s no work and all write

    yes this writing’s a curse
we must yield when blessed with verse
there’s the muse and there’s work
    which one do we shirk?
I surely don’t know which is worse
