A ‘puente’ poem
arose anxiously expecting to share her news flushed and anxious for ~Tonight, Tonight~ can't come soon enough expectations arouse him civilian life
W3 poetry prompt
This week’s W3 poetry prompt, hosted by Tanmay Philip, is to:
- Write a โPuenteโ poem;
- The middle stanza should contain the title of a song;
- You can add more words to the middle stanza if you wish.
I selected Smashing Pumpkin’s song ‘Tonight, Tonight’.
Let’s write poetry together!

When it comes to partnership, some humans can make their lives alone – it’s possible. But creatively, it’s more like painting: you can’t just use the same colours in every painting. It’s just not an option. You can’t take the same photograph every time and live with art forms with no differences.
–Ben Harper (b. 1969)
Would you like to create poetry with me and have a completed poem of yours featured here at the Skeptic’s Kaddish? I am very excited to have launched the ‘Poetry Partners’ initiative and am looking forward to meeting and creating with you… Check it out!
That’s one smooth bridge, nary a bump between stanzas, between anxiousness and hopeful expectations.

I like the brevity of this. Of course I was thinking immediately of West Side Story, which would also apply. (K)

One of my favourite Smashing Pumpkins songs. ๐๐๐
Mine tooโฃ๏ธ
Hadn’t listened to it in years until you shared it there today.
I had the album – and I often heard the song on the radio on the way to and from school โค
Cool! ๐๐๐ Had the album too on those ancient devices called C. D’s. Haha! ๐๐
yep – mine was a CD set too! ๐
What nice scenes you showed us! The end of a war and the beginning of domestic bliss. Wonderfully penned, David.
Yes, indeed.

The embers never fade
