Over heels, or: On the rocks

Poetry Partners #174

A poem on love by Jaideep Khanduja of ‘Pebble’s Galaxy’

Love is a fire that burns within,
A flame that flickers, a never-ending win.
It lifts you up when you're feeling low,
And helps you grow and let go.

It's patient, kind, and full of grace,
A love that always finds its place.
It conquers hate and spreads its light,
A love that conquers day and night.

So hold on tight to the love you've found,
And never let it leave your sight,
For love is a treasure that's worth its weight in gold,
A light that shines forever, bold.

A ‘Kyrielle’ by ben Alexander of ‘The Skeptic’s Kaddish’

Love is a fire that burns within
Smoldering just beneath the skin;
With thick sultry steam's upwards rise
~ Stark truths are much obscured by lies.

Love is a fire that burns within;
Its heat boils blood, makes senses spin;
Hearts fooled, feeling themselves made whole,
~ Though unawares, they've lost control.

Love is a fire that burns within,
Beclouding, justifying sin;
Oft inflames or ignites problems
~ Too seldom helps to resolve 'em.

Let’s write poetry together!

When it comes to partnership, some humans can make their lives alone – it’s possible. But creatively, it’s more like painting: you can’t just use the same colours in every painting. It’s just not an option. You can’t take the same photograph every time and live with art forms with no differences.

  1. I really love your concluding truth David

    Throughout your life, relationships will come and go. There will be life-changing romances and meaningful friendships that last a lifetime.
    Then there will be toxic and painful breakups, and also grief that comes with losing a friend
    These relationships teach us more about ourselves and about powerful, sometimes elusive, love.

    I love the form today.
    The frenchie.

  2. ✍So hold on tight to the love you’ve found, And never let it leave your sight, For love is a treasure that’s worth its weight in gold, A light that shines forever, bold.✍

    Sweet, so sweet

    Tight, never, leave, treasure, worthy, forever- beautiful key words

    Like the poet Edgar Allen Poe says

    “We loved with a love that was more than love.” —

    Sitting on a rock, head over heels in love
