A lifetime, or: A moment

Poetry Partners #176

‘Lifetime Partnership’, a poem by Jan Beekman

There is nothing like
A lifetime partner
No person on earth
Can know me like he does

There is nothing on earth
Like a trusted lover
No one on earth
Can bring the joy he does

There is nothing on earth
Like a God-given soulmate
No one on earth
Understands me as he does

There is no one on earth
Who could ever replace him
Please, Lord, I beg You,
Let him outlive me!

An ‘Waltz Wave’ by ben Alexander of ‘The Skeptic’s Kaddish’

in
haste, the
young
oft fail
to discern
that it's
those
slowest
moments that
are true
last-
ing joy
for lovers,
such as sitting
serenely
togeth-
er
on their
recliners,
losing
all
track of
time

Let’s write poetry together!

When it comes to partnership, some humans can make their lives alone – it’s possible. But creatively, it’s more like painting: you can’t just use the same colours in every painting. It’s just not an option. You can’t take the same photograph every time and live with art forms with no differences.

Ben Harper (b. 1969)

Would you like to create poetry with me and have a completed poem of yours featured here at the Skeptic’s Kaddish? I am very excited to have launched the ‘Poetry Partners’ initiative and am looking forward to meeting and creating with you… Check it out!
