A ‘Septolet’
A POW says: โGlory to Ukraine.โ Russians riddle him with bullets, videotaping his murder.
Septolet?
The Septolet is a poem consisting of seven lines containing fourteen words with a break anywhere in between the two parts. Both parts deal with the same thought and create a picture.
Let’s write poetry together!

When it comes to partnership, some humans can make their lives alone – it’s possible. But creatively, it’s more like painting: you can’t just use the same colours in every painting. It’s just not an option. You can’t take the same photograph every time and live with art forms with no differences.
–Ben Harper (b. 1969)
Would you like to create poetry with me and have a completed poem of yours featured here at the Skeptic’s Kaddish? I am very excited to have launched the ‘Poetry Partners’ initiative and am looking forward to meeting and creating with you… Check it out!

Too emotional David. You left me without words.
Hmmโฆ Sad if trueโฆ Love the septolet though.
There is verified video footage of the event, Nigel. Google it. The soldier’s identity has been confirmed.
I saw it. Just wary of the claims. Sad that so many thousands are dying in a pointless war. A soldier executed for global consumption serves no purpose to the aggressors either. Who benefits? This entire Ukrainian scenario sickens me, because the people pulling the strings donโt care about Ukrainians. Innocents die.. ๐ข
It’s more than reasonable to be skeptical of everything – I know I am.
I agree that most people, if not all people, pulling the strings don’t really care about other people’s lives.
Having said that, there are certain facts, as I see them –
First, Russia invaded Ukraine, and Ukraine is where this war is physically taking place. This Ukrainian POW, for example, was killed on his own soil – he didn’t invade Russia and get shot down.
Second, regardless of the people pulling the strings, the Ukrainian soldiers are fighting of their own volition and motivation – they are choosing to defend their country with their lives.
Third, it is important for the West and for democracy that Ukraine withstand this Russian aggression – otherwise, Russia would continue invading other countries and murdering other peoples.
I appreciate your stance David. I also agree its important for Ukrainians to defend their country to the last person if that’s what it takes. It’s important that they do. I have friends in Ukraine..or used to, haven’t heard from some of them since this all began. Others are in Poland as refugees.
I pay attention to history, and this has been festering for a while. I guess it was inevitable. But the amount of lives being lost on either side?? My God man… I always wanted to write about it, but it’s such a political issues at the moment, and people come at you hard, because they feel so strongly about it either way.
Atrocities are happening on both sides, and the propaganda is unrelenting. I’m glad you have the courage to write about it. I’m liable to get black listed if I start ranting about it.
it’s very personal for me, unfortunately… my wife’s entire family lives in Russia, some quite close to Ukraine, and she also has close friends and former coworkers who live Ukraine, whom she’s in touch with on at least a weekly basis… I write about it to get it off my chest… I have to…
Man..that must be so bloody scary. When this all began, I reached out to my mates, they were already leaving. I feel for them. Because they didn’t ask for war. But no one ever does. The powers that be, have decided that Ukraine was to be their next playground, and…all the worlds a stage. It’s depressing, frightening… Very unfair to those caught in the middle.
I pray your wife’s family is safe, and that this conflict ends soon bro.
me too ๐ฆ
