Weight in gold, or: Diamonds

Poetry Partners #179

‘True Friends’, a poem by Kriti of ‘Life is Beauty’

True friends are those
Who see the pain in your eyes
And never leave your side
Whenever you need them
Whatever be the time
In the moment of despair
Or in happy times
They are never apart
 always in your heart
They are like diamonds
Beautiful and bright
Who know how to shine your face with a smile
They will never push u away
And always keep a special place in their heart
They are the ones who will always be at your side from the start...

A ‘golden drill’ poem by ben Alexander of ‘The Skeptic’s Kaddish’

that which is most true isn't obvious to all;
many take good friends much for granted ~
those who are most precious
(or should be); those who accept them
without preconditions; who support them ~
for they don't see their great folly
until too late; the truth only becomes
evident when the pain of being abandoned
finally sets in one day...
so, never let your dearest friends go ~
look upon them with new eyes as the most precious diamonds

Let’s write poetry together!

When it comes to partnership, some humans can make their lives alone – it’s possible. But creatively, it’s more like painting: you can’t just use the same colours in every painting. It’s just not an option. You can’t take the same photograph every time and live with art forms with no differences.

Ben Harper (b. 1969)
