Perspiration, or: Inspiration

I would run out
of steam, of ideas, and then
feel myself foolish for
going on and on;
I would lose track of my thoughts,
lose the thread, lose my flow;
I would have no notion
of how far I should go,
get lost betwixt my words,
betwixt letters be left waiting,
wondering- could I have versed
better and am I conflating quality with
wordiness, length, and, absurdly,
validation from others
who tend to pen poems
of such length and meaning,
meaning they pen genius
lines, pull readers in from start
to part one, to two, three, many
parts more, and then(!) to
penultimate penultimate stanza,
penultimate stanza, and grand
ultimate finale... *Whew!*
this admiration's tiring...
I can't do what they do!

Let’s write poetry together!

When it comes to partnership, some humans can make their lives alone – it’s possible. But creatively, it’s more like painting: you can’t just use the same colours in every painting. It’s just not an option. You can’t take the same photograph every time and live with art forms with no differences.

Ben Harper (b. 1969)

Would you like to create poetry with me and have a completed poem of yours featured here at the Skeptic’s Kaddish? I am very excited to have launched the ‘Poetry Partners’ initiative and am looking forward to meeting and creating with you… Check it out!

    And finaly
    Yes
    I must confess.

    A heart with a pen
    And a great teacher
Posing the right questions, which takes us on an expedition of poetic inquiry

  3. โœI would have no notion of how far I should go, get lost betwixt my words, betwixt letters be left waiting,โœ
    Yet you hold the word
In so much ado about nothing

  4. โœI would lose track of my thoughts, lose the thread, lose my flow;โœ
    So did Shakespeare, Neruda
    Mozart and Beethoven

I am in awe of your introduction
    Your brain serves you lemons
And there you go and squeeze out the juice
    Making ink for your poetry
    Sour or sweet
Working through the negative self talk and fear of making mistakes or looking foolish is so good your mental abd creative wellbeing
    Love it.
