Kerfuffle Komics: You, or: Eye…

Image to Poem to Comic

In January, I wrote the below poem for Sadje’s image prompt, and artist Matt Snyder of AProlificPotpourri was inspired to draw a comic (see below) based upon my verse.

My poem had been inspired by this image of a green field, in the center of which is a flowerbed shaped like an eye with flowers planted to give the impression the eye is staring forward. [Image credit: Egor Vikherv @ Unsplash]

I am sharing this once again because I’m touched that Matt chose to lend his artistic interpretation to my little poem, and I would like to showcase his talent.

My ‘Waltz Wave’ poem

I
see you;
I
watch you
thoughtfully
each day;
I
know your
imprudent
indifference
towards me,
your home;
I
was here
before you;
and I
shall
survive
you

Let’s write poetry together!

When it comes to partnership, some humans can make their lives alone – it’s possible. But creatively, it’s more like painting: you can’t just use the same colours in every painting. It’s just not an option. You can’t take the same photograph every time and live with art forms with no differences.

Would you like to create poetry with me and have a completed poem of yours featured here at the Skeptic’s Kaddish? I am very excited to have launched the ‘Poetry Partners’ initiative and am looking forward to meeting and creating with you… Check it out!

  1. What does Kerfuffle Komics mean?

    The illustrations are somewhat well frightening somewhat well I don’t know…depressing
    And achieved the effect of your words.

    Yet the first impressions you wrote about the eye, and I’m not sure, well I doubt I read this poem before.
    Somewhat sweetly reaching out and resolute – without the comic strip, still mind-blowing.
